Young Writers Project Writing CenterKnitters, spinners and weavers one and all, I want to thank all of you who have helped support the Young Writers Project these last few years. Your small donations have added up, have helped us reach thousands of students and have helped us develop as a strong nonprofit. I am writing to ask you to help us start the YWP Digital Writing Center at Champlain Mill (our new home). This space will serve students -- particularly "at risk" immigrant and low-income students in the surrounding area -- as well as college mentors, teachers and the community. This center will allow us to bring many small groups in for training, workshops and events that promote writing, expression and the creative use of multimedia.

6/36/3 We lost our beloved Vic, Jamie's dad, last Friday morning. We are very sad...to report this. It's been a difficult month... and we are hoping that things settle down soon. Love to all. Kathleen, not knitting much due to arthritis in the hands.
5/25 gorgeous Spring5/25/09 LIlacs are blooming...and doing so well. We have 10 varieties at least. Lilac, blue, white, dark violet, dark violet with white edge, pink. So gorgeous. These are my favorite flowers and our house is filled with big bunches of them, and you can smell them from the street, we have so many blooming. The gorgeous crabapple blooms are gone, sadly... the lupines are beginning. I love Spring. Martha's graduation was divine. Love, blessings, and thanks for getting the donations up to 4%. It's great.... Kathleen
Graduation, forget me notsMay 18. I am so proud. My daughter Martha is graduating from U of Maryland on Thursday, in violin performance. I am so proud I could burst. If anyone wants to send Martha a congratulatory note send it to me at kbruce@together.net with Martha in the subject line and I will pass them on to her. Hope you are all enjoying the marvelous spring. It is glorious here.
5/16 Rain5/16 and the key word here is rain. It's POURING. I can't even get the dog to go out and do his thing, because he hates the rain, and wants to just stand there, get soaked, and chew grass. Sigh. My husband is away visiting his parents, and my daughter is at a prom, and it's me and Rem and the two cats. going to eat ice cream, and look up how to knit a sock on circulars.... from the toe up. I have this cool new yarn. Navy blue with actual sterling silver in it....to retard smell, etc. Neato. Love, Kathleen
5/9 New Cashmere Company5/9 Has anyone done business with a new Chinese cashmere company that has surfaced? I got an email this morning, and they look legit, and have some very nice yarns,...although no prices are posted. One can buy a kilogram of fiber or top, it says, though no prices, again are posted for yarn or top.

I love it. I bought some Easter flowers today for my mil, and tomorrow we will have Passover Sedar here at the place where they live. It's quite lovely, and I am looking forward to it. I am so proud when I see that 14 people have contributed almost $275 in the past week. That's pretty good, everyone, and I thank you so much. Hugs to all, and back to work. Kathleen
